One of Arbor Green Tree Care’s residential clients faced an all too common high-risk situation: a large, mature oak tree in their small backyard was threatening nearby homes and would cause serious damage if it fell. The tree needed to come down, but standard tree-removal approaches could easily damage nearby structures.
The solution? Crane-assisted tree removal.
The Basics of This Complex Hazardous Tree Removal Project
- Client Profile: Residential
- Location: Ansonia, Connecticut
- Type of Service: Crane-assisted tree removal
- Duration: Four Hours
- Season: Autumn
- Tree Type: Oak
- Specific Challenges: Remove a massive tree between two homes without causing any damage.
How Proper Planning Improved Tree Removal Safety on a Complex Project
This project required a cautious approach. Traditional cutting methods weren’t an option, as there was no safe drop zone for large limbs or trunk sections. Crane-assisted tree removal would allow the team to maintain control of every piece of the tree during the large tree dismantling process. Instead of letting pieces fall to the ground, the crane operator would lower them slowly to a designated spot.
The crew assessed the site, identified load points, and positioned the crane for the best reach. Using aerial tree removal methods, the crew worked from the top down, first removing branches and then cutting the trunk into smaller sections.
Each section of the oak was carefully secured to the crane before being cut. This process enabled controlled lifting and lowering of limbs and trunk sections, eliminating the risk of free-falling debris.
Another Successful Removal in a Tight Space
Clear communication between the climbers, crane operator, and ground crew ensured each cut was executed smoothly. This crane-assisted tree removal approach kept disruption to a minimum, and work moved steadily. The project was completed within four hours without damage to the home or surrounding structures.
This Ansonia project was completed successfully. The homeowner now has a clean, secure yard and peace of mind heading into winter. They won’t have to worry about limbs (or worse, the entire tree) crashing down onto either home.
